Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Toxic Waste Incinerator.

Peter Barry

Question:

163 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he considers that the establishment of a toxic waste incinerator would be helpful in attracting industry to this country; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In reply to Dáil Question No. 158 on 5 February 1992, the Minister for the Environment indicated that his Department are urgently reviewing plans for the provision of a central hazardous waste incinerator.

With specific regard to the attraction of new industry, the provision of suitable procedures, including cost efficient facilities for the disposal of hazardous wastes, is an essential element in the provision of an appropriate infrastructural base.
