Vol. 417 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding for County Westmeath.

Dick Spring

Question:

128 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of all national lottery funding allocated to County Westmeath since the national lottery began operating.

The position regarding the distribution of national lottery grants is that while as Minister for Finance I have overall responsibility for the national lottery, the operation of the various national lottery funded spending programmes is a matter for each of the Ministers concerned. I note that the Deputy is also raising this matter directly with other Ministers.

In the case of my own Department the one activity which is funded by the national lottery is Gaeleagras na Seirbhise Poiblí, which operates through its headquarters in Dublin and in a number of Gaeltacht counties. No funds have been allocated to County Westmeath.
