Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Buildings Expenditure.

Enda Kenny

Question:

168 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Justice the total allocation for Garda buildings in each of the past three years; the allocation made available for 1992; the estimated and proposed expenditure on Garda stations in County Mayo this year, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Details of all expenditure on Garda buildings in each of the past three years are set out in the following table. The allocation for 1992 is £6,598,330. Of this, £1.9 million is allocated towards maintenance, approximately £1.1 million towards the new Garda College at Templemore and the remaining amount towards new works.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that, so far this year, approximately £10,000 has been approved for work on Garda stations in County Mayo. The question of authorising further improvements to Garda accommodation in County Mayo will be considered during the year in the light of overall priorities and available finance.
