Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - Motorised Transport Grant Scheme.

Richard Bruton

Question:

261 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health whether he will consider introducing a scheme that would permit the grant for motorised transport for disabled drivers to be extended beyond those who require the vehicle to allow them to earn a living, so that other people with very restricted mobility could get the chance of obtaining adapted vehicles; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The motorised transport grant scheme is specifically designed to assist people with the purchase of a car to enable them to earn a living.

Persons who require a car for purposes other than getting to or from work may qualify for the excise duty and VAT exemption schemes operated by the Revenue Commissioners.
