Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - Post-Graduate Medical Training.

Bernard Allen

Question:

264 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health when he proposes to carry out a restructuring of post graduate medical training for doctors.

Post-graduate medical training is the responsibility of the relevant professional training bodies. It is, therefore, primarily a matter for the training bodies to propose changes in the system of training. The Postgraduate Medical and Dental Board are the statutuory body with responsibility for promoting the development of post-graduate medical and dental education. The board, in consultation with the training bodies, keep post-graduate training needs under continuous review.
