Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

313 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a cattle headage grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

This applicant's 1991 cattle headage, suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk producers and special beef premium schemes grants are being processed at present and if found in order payments will issue shortly.

Michael Finucane

Question:

314 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason there was an underpayment in the beef premium paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An amount of £146.83 was deducted from this person's payment under the 1991 special beef premium scheme to offset an overpayment made to him under the 1990 special beef premium scheme when he was eligible for payment only.

The overpayment occurred because this person should have been paid grants at the reduced rate of 80 per cent under the 1990 scheme as he listed an animal on his application which was not in his herd when he applied. He was originally deemed ineligible for payment but under EC concession which was granted such cases could be paid at the reduced rate of 80 per cent.
