Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - Illegal Residents.

Seán Ryan

Question:

66 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the number of illegal residents in Ireland, and having regard to the fact that many have been here for some years, he intends to introduce an amnesty for illegal residents so that from the commencement of 1993, the position is clear in respect of the regulations of citizens from third countries wishing to reside in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no proposals to introduce an amnesty for persons who are illegally in the State.
