Vol. 417 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Government Appointments.

Tom Enright

Question:

6 Mr. Enright asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the names and addresses of the personnel who have been appointed by the Government to serve as directors of semi-State bodies since his election as Taoiseach, and if he will outline the experience and qualifications of each of the individuals appointed and the duration of each appointment.

The Government appointed Ms Ann Counihan, BA to the board of Bord na Móna for a five year period with effect from 10 March 1992. Ms Counihan is head of legal and corporate affairs at the National Treasury Management Agency.

The only other Government appointment to a State body in the period has been that of Mr. Justice Roderick J. O'Hanlon to be President of the Law Reform Commission for a five year period commencing on 4 March 1992.

Has the Taoiseach made any appointments to health organisations, particularly voluntary health organisations.

The Taoiseach does not make appointments to voluntary health organisations, and neither do the Government. It is the Minister for Health who makes such appointments.
