Vol. 417 No. 9

Written Answers. - Local Authority Scheme of Letting Priorities.

John Bruton

Question:

248 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if there is any variation in the priority allocated in their letting priority for housing as between different local authorities in regard to the relative housing need of couples with children, as against single parents with children in otherwise equivalent housing conditions.

The priority to be given to a household in the letting of a dwelling depends on the scheme of letting priorities adopted by the housing authority concerned and on the application to the particular circumstances of the individual household of the factors on which the scheme is based. Having regard to the number of schemes involved (104) and the range and possible combinations of factors and circumstances concerned, it is not possible to draw general conclusions as to the treatment of particular classes of needs.
