Vol. 418 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tourism Statistics.

Jim Higgins

Question:

33 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if she will give a breakdown of the number of tourists who visited this country in 1991 from the US, Great Britain, the EC and Japan.

I propose to circulate in the Official Report a table showing available CSO estimates of visitor numbers from our main markets in 1991. The CSO do not prepare separate statistics for the Japanese market. However, Bord Fáilte estimate that about 10,000 tourists from Japan visited Ireland in 1991.
