50 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the number of probation officers who have been appointed to participate in the community services order scheme to date; and when the scheme will be set in place.
The community service order scheme commenced in 1984 and has been in operation ever since. Twenty probation and welfare officers operate the scheme and 66 part-time sessional supervisors are engaged, as required, to directly supervise offenders on community service projects.
