A major building programme has recently been completed at Monaghan General Hospital. This programme involved the provision of a new out-patients' extension, new consultancy rooms, enhanced casualty facilities, new lift shaft, the upgrading of the existing physiotherapy department and fire fighting facilities.

The further development of the hospital is a matter in the first instance for the North Eastern Health Board which must have regard to its overall priorities for capital developments in its area.
