Vol. 418 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pub Licence Fees.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

19 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Finance if he will receive a deputation from Galway publicans concerning the difficulties they will have with the proposed changes in pub licence fees.

I regret that, while I would like to oblige the Deputy, work pressures would not permit such a meeting at this time.

However, I have already met representatives of the Vintners' Federation of Ireland and officials of my Department have met delegations from the Licensed Vintners' Association and the Vintners' Federation. In addition, I have received numerous submissions, including one from the Galway branch of the VFI, concerning the proposed changes. The Deputy can be assured, therefore, that I am fully conversant with the views of publicans in this matter and that I will be bearing them in mind in the Finance Bill context.
