Vol. 418 No. 7

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Michael Lowry — the proposals made by Comhairle na nOspidéal to the Mid-Western Health Board regarding consultancy appointments to Nenagh General Hospital; (2) Deputy Gay Mitchell — the reason no house purchase scheme has been introduced since the Millennium year and if the Minister for the Environment will now take steps to introduce such a scheme; (3) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the reason for the delay in the installation of a regional TV studio by RTE in Dundalk as previously envisaged; (4) Deputy Austin Deasy — the action the Government are taking to maintain the Nordex Company in Waterford as a going concern; (5) Deputy Michael Moynihan — the delay in the processing of blood samples in Tralee General Hospital, a cause of great stress and concern to a number of patients; (6) Deputy John Connor — if the Minister for Industry and Commerce is aware that approximately one quarter of a million pounds in issued cheques to creditors of a company which is in receivership, continue to be dishonoured by the issuing banks, despite their issue under the protection of the court and a decision of the High Court that these cheques should be paid; (7) Deputy Donal Carey — whether the Minister for the Environment will immediately revoke the decision of his Department not to accede to the sign-posting proposals made by Clare County Council for the Bunratty by-pass which included mainland, pictorial-type signs; (8) Deputy Paul Connaughton — the suspension by the Department of Agriculture and Food of the control of pollution grants (western package), without warning and if the Minister will outline the future operation of this vitally important scheme for farmers as far as slatted houses and silage bases are concerned; (9) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the financial burden facing Kerry County Council following the recent oil spillage off the Kerry coast and whether the Minister for the Marine will reimburse Kerry County Council for their outlay on the clean-up operation; (10) Deputy Patrick J. Sheehan — the serious financial situation confronting a large number of farmers who are awaiting payment of cattle headage grants, beef premia and suckler cow and equine grants; and the steps the Minister for Agriculture and Food will take in this regard.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Lowry, Moynihan and Carey.
