Vol. 418 No. 7

Written Answers. - Mallow (Cork) School Staffing.

Frank Crowley

Question:

163 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Education if a decision has been made to retain four school teachers at a school (details supplied) in County Cork.

The staffing of national schools for a particular year is determined by the enrolment in the school on 30 September of the previous year.

The school in question had a valid enrolment of 90 on 30 September 1991 which under the current staffing schedule warrants a staff of principal and two assistants for the 1992-93 school year.

The only deviation from this agreement is in the case of the maximum class size guidelines set out by my Department being breached. The position in this school can be looked at by my Department in September 1992 in this regard.
