Vol. 418 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Dublin Estuary Pollution Case.

Nora Owen

Question:

226 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment the present status of a case being taken in Brussels against the Irish Government because of alleged pollution of Rogerstown Estuary, Lusk, County Dublin by the county council tiphead.

A letter has been received from the EC Commission in the matter of the implementation of Directive 79/409/EEC on the conservation of wild birds as amended by Directive 85/411/EEC. The Commission's letter includes reference to a complaint relating to the impact of the adjacent local authority tiphead on Rogerstown Estuary. A comprehensive reply has been made to the Commission, with whom the matter currently rests.
