Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing Construction.

Liam Kavanagh

Question:

231 Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for the Environment the number of houses which his Department has funded for construction by Dublin Corporation and by Dublin County Council for the years 1980 to 1992 inclusive; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council provided a total of approximately 15,400 houses in the period 1980-1991 inclusive under their local authority housing construction programmes. It is not possible at this stage to indicate how many houses will be provided by individual housing authorities in 1992.

Question:

232 Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the plans for housing for the next five years.

"A Plan for Social Housing" published in February, 1991, sets out the Government's strategy and policy priorities for housing. The thrust of the plan was agreed with the social partners in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.
