Paul Bradford

Question:

291 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will review the reply given to Parliamentary Question No. 380 of 3 March 1992 as the question referred to a 1990 special beef premium application by a person (details supplied) in County Cork, and the reply given was in respect of his 1991 application.

Paul Bradford

Question:

292 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the current position regarding those applicants for the 1991 special beef premium whose applications were initially rejected on technical grounds; if regulations have been drawn to have these applications reviewed in those cases where applicants can clearly demonstrate that there was no intention to defraud; and if an applicant (details supplied) in County Cork, who was refused payment following a genuine error in completion of his application form, will have his case reviewed.

Most of the applications under the 1991 special beef premium scheme that were initially refused have now been reviewed in the light of recommendations made by a Departmental Task Force set up to deal with problems in headage and premium payments. The review has enabled payments to be made in several cases. By 30 April the number of claimants paid will be close to the total number of applicants paid 1990 special beef premium.

The application of the person named has been reviewed and if found in order a computer validation check payment in respect of the eligible animals in the application will be made shortly.
