Vol. 418 No. 7

Written Answers. - Rural Resettlement Group Funding.

Dick Spring

Question:

73 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to work being carried out by a rural resettlement group (details supplied) in County Clare; and if he will outline whether the Government are prepared to make any funding available to this group to assist the development of their work.

Michael Creed

Question:

320 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a request has been received by his Department for funding from an organisation (details supplied) in County Clare.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 73 and 320 together.

I am aware of the work of the organisation concerned. There are no funds available to my Department out of which aid could be provided directly towards the work of the group which I understand is primarily in relation to the housing of families from urban communities in rural areas.

The organisation may, however, be able to benefit indirectly from funding channelled through my Department under the Leader programme. A decision to grant aid under Leader is of course solely a matter for the Leader Group concerned.
