Vol. 418 No. 8

Written Answers. - Internal Market Legislation.

Bernard Allen

Question:

34 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has satisfied himself that Ireland is making as much progress as expected in implementing Internal Market legislation adopted by the European Council.

I am concerned that Ireland may not be implementing Internal Market Programme measures into Irish law as promptly as it should. Of the 191 measures currently applicable in Ireland, 35 measures or 18 per cent are awaiting implementation.

The Deputy may be assured, however, that my Department are actively pursuing the matter with all parties concerned and are making every effort to ensure that all outstanding and new measures are implemented as early as possible.
