Vol. 418 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Water Scheme.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

54 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the progress, if any, which is being made to advance the Dún Laoghaire water supply improvements scheme; if he will give details of (a) the contracts which have been submitted and approved, (b) the value of these contracts and the contracts which are awaiting approval and (c) when this approval will be given; and when Dún Laoghaire Corporation will be permitted to commence work on the scheme.

The preliminary report for the Dún Laoghaire water supply improvement scheme was approved on 20 March 1990, and Dún Laoghaire Corporation was advised to prepare contract documents for stage I, which will be subdivided into 6 contracts. Site investigation works designed to facilitate the preparation of contract documents have also been approved by the Department.

Contract documents for contract No. 3 have been submitted to the Department and are under examination. I am not in a position to indicate when I may be able to approve these documents.
