Vol. 419 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

Michael Ferris

Question:

178 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will expedite an appeal by a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who was a student and then signed for credits but was refused participation in a FÁS scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person concerned applied for unemployment assistance from 27 February 1992. Her means were assessed at £60 per week, based on benefit of board and lodging in the family home.

The person concerned appealed this decision on 16 April 1992 to the independent social welfare appeals office and the appeal will be referred to an appeals officer for determination as soon as possible.
