Question:

15 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons who have been disqualified from dental benefit in each of the years 1989 to 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Between 10 per cent and 15 per cent of dental benefit applications are disqualified each year because the statutory contribution conditions governing entitlement to the benefit are not satisfied on the insured person's insurance record. The number of claims received and qualified in the years 1989 to 1991 is given in the following table.
