Vol. 419 No. 2

Written Answers. - Long-Stay Psychiatric Hospitals.

Bernard Allen

Question:

69 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on recent comments by a person (details supplied) that, as a result of the phasing out of long-stay psychiatric hospitals, there will inevitably be a marked increase in suicides, avoidable self-injury and injuries to and killings of others; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that the person who allegedly made these comments has denied ever making such statements.
