Vol. 419 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Question:

80 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will deduct the cost of farm grant inspections from farm modernisation grants instead of obliging farmers to pay this cost themselves before receiving payment of their grant.

As EC recoupment is based on the nett grant paid to an applicant the procedure suggested by the Deputy would result in a loss to the Exchequer.

Ivan Yates

Question:

81 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a beef premium payment will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; if he will expedite this; and if he will outline the arrangements which his Department are making to avoid further delays due to the postal strike in relation to the issuing of such payments.

This applicant has been paid her 1991 special beef premium scheme grant already.

The position regarding the postal difficulties is being monitored on a daily basis and such arrangements as are necessary and feasible are being made to ensure as far as possible that payable orders due to farmers reach them as quickly as possible.
