189 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if he intends to provide additional nursing posts in St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary, where as many as 20 nursing posts are urgently required in order to provide a proper and adequate service to patients, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
191 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health when the system of appointing permanent nursing staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary will be reviewed, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
214 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that extra nursing staff are needed for St. Joseph's Hospital in Clonmel, County Tipperary; if he intends to provide this staff, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 189, 191, and 214 together.
The identification of staffing needs and the provision, organisation and management of services at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel are a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance.
Under current procedures, proposals for the filling of new and replacement posts are reviewed on a monthly basis by my Department. This review is undertaken having regard to service and personnel criteria in the context of the priority afforded to each post by the agency concerned and with particular regard to the availability of financial resources.
