Question:147 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the proportion of hedgerows that have been destroyed in the past 20 years as a result of extensive land clearance for tillage.

My Department does not have details available on the extent to which hedgerows have been removed for purposes of land clearance for tillage.
It is thought however that it has not been significant.
