Vol. 419 No. 9

Written Answers. - Checkpoint Duty Facilities.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

39 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to the criticism made of facilities and protective clothing available for soldiers on checkpoint duty made at the conference of PDFORRA; the steps being taken to address these problems; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The facilities at checkpoints are continually monitored with a view to improvement as necessary. Protective clothing is issued to all military personnel for checkpoint duties. Any requirement for improvements in protective clothing will be met.
