Vol. 419 No. 9

Written Answers. - Sligo General Hospital.

Edward Nealon

Question:

108 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the present plans for the closing down of wards at Sligo General Hospital; the number of beds involved; the duration of the closures; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The North-Western Health Board has advised me that 73 beds from the bed complement of 297 at Sligo General Hospital will be closed from 25th July to 6th September. This is to coincide with periods when staff are on annual leave and has been the practice since 1985. All emergency and urgent services will, of course, continue to be provided.
