Vol. 420 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Office Information Service.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

169 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason the information officer at the social welfare office on Sundrive Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12, is no longer available at this address; the reason also the public were not informed of this change; whether a replacement information officer will be available; and if so, when.

Prior to early May an information service was provided by my Department at the office on Sundrive Road on Mondays and Thursdays of each week.

The Information Officer who attended this office has recently been transferred on promotion.

The information service provided from the office on Sundrive Road has since been maintained by other officers of my Department apart from two occasions on which relief officers were not available. A notice advising clients that the service was not available on each of the two days in question was placed at the premises.

The need for a separate information office at this location is at present being reviewed in the context of the development of many localised deliveries of social welfare services generally.
