Vol. 420 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Jim Higgins

Question:

103 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the number of applications currently with his Department for (a) new schools, (b) school replacement buildings, (c) school extensions and the total number of rooms involved for (1) primary schools, (2) secondary schools, (3) vocational schools and (4) community schools or colleges.

As school accommodation requirements are under continual review there is a large number of building proposals before my department at any given time. The information requested regarding these proposals is, however, not readily available and its compilation would require the deployment of staff from more urgent duties which in the circumstances, would not be justified.

Nevertheless, I would be very pleased to deal with any query the Deputy may wish to raise in relation to any particular school.
