Question:88 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Finance if it is the Government's intention to publish a new wildlife Bill; if so, when; and if he will outline the area which will be covered in the Bill.
Written Answers. - Wildlife Bill.
A Draft Scheme of a Bill to amend many of the provisions of the Wildlife Act, 1976, is at present in the course of preparation.
The Bill will improve laws for the protection of important Wildlife habitats and species, provide new machinery for the purchase of land, both by agreement and compulsorily and increase penalties for the contravention of the Wildlife laws.
I hope to introduce the Bill in the Dáil during the year ahead.
