Vol. 420 No. 7

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Fax Facilities.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

20 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Labour if, for the course of the current postal dispute, he will agree to make free fax facilities available at a number of designated offices to assist job applicants, in submitting letters and CV's for vacancies, in view of the fact that the cost of sending faxes is prohibitive for many of the unemployed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

FÁS provide assistance for those job seekers registered with their employment service in making contact with employers who are recruiting employees. I have asked FÁS to see if some arrangements could be made in relation to other job seekers, if the dispute continues. However, I am hopeful of an early settlement of the dispute.
