Vol. 420 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Housing Plan.

Ivor Callely

Question:

75 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he will clarify the position in relation to integration of local authority dwellers and private home owners under the plan for social housing; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A Plan for Social Housing published in February 1991, places strategic importance on mitigating the extent and effects of social segregation in housing. Many of the policy measures in the plan will contribute over time to counteracting the ill-effects of undue segregation. Circular N3/92 of 7 February 1992, Counteracting Social Segregation in Housing, amplified for housing authorities the further measures to be adopted by them towards this objective. A copy of the circular is available in the Oireachtas Library.
