Question:51 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Energy his views on whether the ESB is the appropriate body to promote energy efficiency nationally.
Written Answers. - ESB's Promotion of Energy Efficiency.
The ESB is ideally placed to promote the efficient use of electricity in all sectors of the economy and I am fully supportive of its efforts in this regard. My Department is responsible for energy conservation strategies at the national level and to assist in this area a Committee to Improve the Efficiency of Electricity End-Use was established by my Department in 1990. The ESB is represented on this Committee.
