Vol. 421 No. 2

Written Answers. - Derating of Premises.

Michael Creed

Question:

106 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment if he will introduce amending legislation to provide for the de-rating of former commercial premises which are no longer trading; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no proposal for amending legislation in this regard.

It is open to a rated occupier of any premises to request the local authority, on payment of a fee, to list the valuation on the premises for revision by the Commissioner of Valuation. In certain circumstances where a premises is vacant it is also possible to claim a refund of rates paid. The relevant local authority will be able to advise in any particular case.
