Question:

234 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of (1) the cities and towns which have been offered urban renewal schemes and (2) the cities and towns which have not availed of this scheme.

Under the urban renewal scheme, areas have been designated for urban renewal purposes in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Athlone, Ballina, Bray, Carlow, Castlebar, Clonmel, Drogheda, Dundalk, Ennis, Kilkenny, Letterkenny, Longford, Portlaoise, Sligo, Tallaght, Tralee, Tullamore, Wexford. The scheme operates on the basis of a range of tax incentives which apply to qualifying expenditure on development within each of the areas designated.
