Vol. 421 No. 5

Written Answers. - Family Planning Bill.

Nuala Fennell

Question:

85 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Health if he has sought the views and recommendations of the Second Commission on the Status of Women on the proposed Family Planning Bill in view of their special role and if he will act on the findings on the many submissions from various organisations.

I am aware that the Second Commission on the Status of Women are considering the development of family planning services. In that regard my Department provided detailed material to the commission to assist in its deliberations. The commission will report to Government in the near future and the Deputy can be assured that any recommendations made by the commission with regard to health services in general, and family planning services in particular, will receive my active consideration.

I can assure the Deputy that all submissions received on the proposed legislation are being given my full consideration.
