Vol. 421 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Security Procedures.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

140 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment if, in the interests of security and privacy, he will introduce regulations to allow members of the Garda Síochána to have their names entered on the register of electors at the address of the Garda stations where they work, even if they are not resident there; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the Electoral (No. 2) Bill, 1991, currently before the Seanad, an elector who is a member of the Garda Síochána will be able to opt for registration in the ordinary way instead of being registered as a postal voter.
