Vol. 421 No. 5

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Allowance Recipients.

Michael Ferris

Question:

42 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health when he intends spouses of disabled person's maintenance allowance recipients to be treated in the same way as social welfare recipient spouses; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the differences between the assessment of a spouse's means in respect of an application for Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance and in respect of applications for social assistance allowances.

My Department is examining the feasibility of bringing the means test for DPMA into line with arrangements that apply under the Department of Social Welfare.
