67 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on recent press reports that the charge on private hospital beds and public hospitals will be increased shortly; and if he will outline the impact this will have on VHI premium charges.
The level of maintenance charges paid by VHI to private hospitals is a matter for agreement between VHI and the individual hospitals concerned and I have no function in the matter. I have no plans to increase the level of charges for private and semi-private accommodation in public hospitals at present.
