Vol. 421 No. 8

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Michael Bell

Question:

190 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the very serious housing problems of Drogheda Corporation, County Louth, where the housing list is at its highest level in ten years; if he will sanction urgently the application for eight houses at Oulster Lane and 20 houses at Marley's Lane, Drogheda, County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the housing needs as ascertained in the latest assessment carried out by Drogheda Corporation. Approval has issued to the corporation to invite tenders for a seven house scheme at Chord Road/Oulster Lane which was the nomination of the corporation in response to the "starts" for which they were given authorisation for 1992. As the corporation did not nominate the houses at Marley's Lane as "starts" for their 1992 programme the question of approval does not arise at this stage.
