Question:

60 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the total number of staff, either full-time or part-time, working (a) in his private ministerial office (b) in his constituency office and (c) elsewhere in his Department but working personally for him; if he will outline (1) the number, if any, working for him under consultancy agreements or contracts and (2) the salary level or fees payable in each case; and if he will list the names of the people in each case.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:

(a) There are 14 people employed in the Private Office: Dr. Martin Mansergh, Special Adviser, Mr. Tom Savage, Special Communications Adviser, Evelyn Eager, Personal Secretary to Dr. Mansergh, Donagh Morgan, Assistant Principal, Private Secretary to the Taoiseach, Pat Power, HEO, Declan Ingoldsby, HEO, 1×Staff Officer, 3× Clerical Officer, 3×Clerical Assistant.

(b) There are 9 people employed in the Constitutency office: Michael Doherty, Adviser, Pauline McCormack, Personal Assistant, Fiona Monaghan, Personal Secretary, 1×Executive Officer, 3×Clerical Officer, 2×Clerical Assistant.

(c) There are 3 people employed elsewhere in the Department for working personally for the Taoiseach: Dr. David Cabot, Special Adviser (Environment), Anthony Cronin, Arts Adviser, Dr. Con Power, Special Economic Development Officer.

(1) There are 10 people working for the Taoiseach on a consultancy or contract basis (these individuals have already been included at (a), (b) or (c), as appropriate.

(2) The salary payable to the 10 individuals referred to at (1) are:

Special Adviser, £43,507,

Arts Officer, £134 per diem,

Special Adviser (Environment), £134 per diem,

Personal Secretary, £131.43 per week (2 day week),

Personal Assistant, £17,145 per annum,

Special Communications Adviser, £32,000 per annum,

Adviser (Constituency Office), £21,000 per annum,

Personal Assistant (Constituency Office), £14,844 per annum,

Special Economic Development Officer, £57,950 per annum.
