Question:

35 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if she will amend the broadcasting legislation to ensure that the power to order a ministerial broadcast cannot be used during general election or referenda campaigns when the people are being asked to vote on matters of political controversy.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to section 31, (2) of the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960. I have no plans at present to amend this provision.
