Vol. 422 No. 4

Written Answers. - Coursing Meetings.

Tony Gregory

Question:

27 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that there are wildlife officers present at all coursing meetings to ensure that all requirements regarding the condition of the hares, and the release of the hares after the event, are fully complied with.

Wildlife officers are employed to enforce the provisions of the Wildlife Act, 1976, and they attend coursing meetings to ensure that there are no breaches of that Act. However, attendance at any given meeting is subject to operational requirements.
