Vol. 423 No. 2

Written Answers. - Blacklisting of Employees.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

59 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Labour if he has received many complaints about blacklisting by employers of former employees; if so, if he will outline the redress which is open to former employees in these situations; if he will request the Industrial Relations Commission to report on the problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have not received any complaints in this regard. The recruitment and selection of employees is a matter for individual employers and the State does not intervene in the process. In many cases, this process is carried out on the basis of terms and conditions agreed in advance with trade unions.

If difficulties arise in a particular case the Labour Relations Commission and the Labour Court are available to help resolve the issues.
