Question:

109 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the age profile of the total number of unemployed persons; and the number of unemployed persons who are under 30 years of age.

The age profile of the total number of unemployed persons is as set out in the table below. Information regarding the specific number of unemployed people under 30 years of age is not available. However, from the information below, it can be seen that 79,967 people, or 28 per cent of the total unemployed, are under 25 years of age and 162,662 people, or 57 per cent of the total unemployed, are under 35 years of age.
