Vol. 424 No. 2

Written Answers. - Appointment of Women to State Bodies.

Nuala Fennell

Question:

113 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Finance the number of women on the boards of agencies and companies under his control at the end of 1991; the plans, if any, he has to increase the number in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In so far as my Department is concerned, the representation of women on boards at the end of 1991 was as follows: ACC, 1; Central Bank, 1; ICC,1.

This level of representation is unchanged at the present time and no vacancies are due to arise on the above boards for the remainder of 1992.

As the Deputy is no doubt aware, the Government is working towards the guidelines recommended by the Commission on the Status of Women in relation to the representation of women on the boards of State-sponsored bodies.
