Question:40 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Taoiseach the number of pig producers in 1970 and in 1991.
Written Answers. - Census of Agriculture.
Information available from the 1970 Census of Agriculture indicated that there were 67,900 holdings with pigs recorded in the State in that year. The most recently published data refer to 1989 and show that the number of pig holdings in that year was estimated at 2,500. Corresponding data from the 1991 Census of Agriculture will be available in the near future.
