Question:154 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Social Welfare the plans if any he has to extend free travel to those in receipt of retirement pension in view of the fact that 1993 has been designated European Year of the Elderly.

The question of improvements in my Department's schemes for the elderly is among the matters to be considered in the context of the forthcoming budget and any improvements will depend on the resources available.
